Have you ever heard the term “Micro speed, macro patience”? I think Gary Vaynerchuck has probably been the most recent person to use the term, but I’m confident that I’ve heard this before he came along, so I can’t give him full credit.
I agree with it, but I think it’s missing a piece. In my opinion “slow, fast, slow” is the way to go. Let me explain myself:
Macro patience – don’t expect results to come fast, be patient.
Micro speed – make decisions quickly and execute with speed.
Nano focus – Take each executable task slowly, with focus, and intention.
The last part is where I see myself and others fall off. We focus on executing quickly and end up juggling tasks to “try” to get things done faster. It rarely works.
