Just because

How often do we do things just because we think that we have to? Probably more often than we like to admit.

My youngest daughter is making the transition into a day-home as both my wife and I are employed. I’ve been charged with dropping her off in the morning during the transition.

At first she was crying quite badly when it was time for me to leave in the morning. This is sad, but expected. However recently her cries have changed, she doesn’t seem so upset. It’s almost like she is only crying because she thinks this is what she is supposed to be doing. Other kids cry when their parents leave so maybe she should too!

Maybe I’m wrong with the above example but it did queue my thoughts onto actions that we complete that aren’t necessary. Like we are almost going through the motions just because.
