Until reading The Lessons of History by Will and Ariel Durant I never thought of freedom and equality being on the same spectrum and actually battling each other throughout history.
Living on either extreme would be disaster for mankind. Absolute freedom would mean no equality. Complete equality would mean no freedom.
Using this paradigm and looking at current political events can be intriguing. And, depending on the topic, I can land on either side of the spectrum.
I’m not going to dive into specific political events and topics in this post. But I am almost certain that this will re-define how I look at these things moving forward.
Another interesting thought to ponder is, if you had to choose one, and only one, what would it be?
