The other day I was walking and a woodpecker was pecking a metal light pole. My initial thought was “what a dumb woodpecker.”
Alas, how many times do I have to learn not to assume anything.
Upon further research “some woodpeckers are smarter than others…” and are actually choosing to use a loud object in order to attract a mate.
So what I thought was a dumb woodpecker was actually a really smart one.
