Isn’t it strange that the majority of companies out there don’t want their people to leave?
The old thinking used to be that you should engage and retain employees as long as possible. I think this view is inherently flawed.
If you have an employee who has reached a ceiling at your organization shouldn’t we be able to have an open conversation with them about next steps in their career?
That could mean supporting them find employment outside. Or maybe it means creating something new for them inside. Who knows, maybe they will leave, gain experience, and then come back!
But surely everyone keeping their cards close to them isn’t beneficial for anyone.
